i'd highly prefer receiving quality time [activities outside the house (e.g., high-adrenaline outdoor recreation, museum, art galleries) and at home (e.g., jigsaw puzzles, movies & shows, baking, being weirder than we admit)] and physical touch (e.g., tight/firm cozy hugs, hand holding, kisses not always involved with sex, cuddling, playing with my hair).

outside of receiving, however, i prefer (on top of reciprocating touch and time) giving acts of service and i want to work on giving more words of affirmation (e.g., compliments & appreciation) to the partner.

this leaves out the only other love language: receiving gifts. of course, i don't mind receiving material gifts, but for occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays, i'd rather just share recognition of the occasion and share interactive experiences.

i'm also looking for deeper conversations, possibly philosophical, existentialist, or whatever comes to mind.

i understand why a male wouldn't be as emotionally available as a female and wish society didn't make it so. either people showed disgust or shamed you for your emotion, they used it against you whether intentional or not, they shared it with other people without your consent, or they constantly depended on you to listen to their problems and vents. while i don't fault you, i need someone who can also let me in and engage in difficult personal conversations rather than stonewalling. i also need someone to call me out if i ever did unintentionally make them uncomfortable with talking about certain things. you can even write it down in a note instead of talking if that's easier. otherwise, alienation invades the relationship. i'd also feel guilty expressing personal things to you if you never trust me and do the same.

i need a cat person. dogs are great companions for many people, but i'm just not suited for them.
