In April 2010, I was diagnosed and successfully treated for a Stage 4 throat cancer. Unfortunately, I experienced side effects from the treatment.nI suffered from Radiation Dental Necrosis. So last year, I had my lower jaw removed and my left fibula and a full free flap grafted into place. This caused my tongue to be pushed further back in my mouth, making it very difficult to talk and not being able to swallow at all. I communicate with my hands and face, I write things down, I text, and I use Text to Speech software on my phone. ot being able to swallow, means that I can't eat, drink or take medications *rally, so I take everything through a port in my stomach with a tube and syringe.
