I wasn't sure if I should put this in funniest, because you will laugh, or the most embarrassing date topic because it was that too. I was set up on a blind date. We talked on the phone and met in a restaurant. I walked in, a man stood up wearing a flannel shirt lookin' just like Howdy Doody. You try not to laugh and maintain composure...the other half was prone to beating the snot out of the friend that set me up on this date...well I didn't wish to be rude and run for my dear life so I suffered through this dinner. However, to give him credit, his first words to me were these, "Don't worry - I call myself Howdy and some of my friends even call me Richie Cunningham."

`Because of his personal appearance you never truely gave the guy a chance. You pretty much made up your mind about the guy when you saw them. I find more often that Kelly Bundy from Married with Children was dead on the money with the line to Bud that said, "A girl already knows if she'll give it up to you when she first meet you" . If a guy did the same thing to a blind date and the girl turned out to look like rossanne barr we'd be called shallow pigs. I dont know what the point of me is to writing this. Something about double standards suck? happy hunting

`Well, she said this was a long time ago...Surely most people have done this in their younger days. I did.
Much has changed since then...I want to know them alot more on the inside.
I am attracted to slim, slender, average, muscular, and a little "fat". I believe in taking care of our bodies..
Our bodies are God's temple-inside and out.

`i actually agree with crash down on this even thoguh im a girl, a guys outer apperance is judged first by a girl, but you should never judge a book by a cover what may look bad on the outside may be the most beautiful person on the inside and possible perfect for you..... so girls what can i say i am in love with a guy who is short than me younger than me and if i seen him on the road i would pass him striaght but after getting to know him alot it turns out that he may be the right guy for me ..... he is sweet and kind and a total prince in disguise

`Well at least you can laugh about it.
I have been set up on a blind date this weekend by my cousin. I'm not sure what will happen...but your story has me wondering what might be waiting for me.

`I also agree with crash down. You can miss out on a great guy if you let the appearance stop you. You might end up seeing him in a better light if the guy treats you properly.
I think looks take second place to the guy having his act together and being honest, kind. What I do look at is does the guy weigh that much because he's insecure (hey we're all insecure sometimes) or is it complete lazyness (the guy just doesn't bother with anything much, then that might mean more work for me and I'm going to be a whole lot less likely to be attracted by that, same for the other extreme, if the guy's always over-working it's a turn off to me now... I want a guy that has at least *some* time for me in his life, otherwise what's the point?!? you share a room and meals but then he's always gone doesn't say 'I care about you', it says 'i'm running the other way as fast as i can but i'm too chicken to admit it so we're still together')
so as experience sets in, I think girls go for looks while women go for personality.
That said, a guy shows up on a date dressed like that, I'd wonder what the story behind it is. If the guy owns a ranch or works/lives on one, I'd be okay with that (I love horses!), but then, I have to say showing up on a date with work clothes on also speak volumes to me... does the guy ever leaves work at work?
I guess I'm trying to say every situation would be different in my case.
