meeting someone on the internet and safety

okay, I hope it doesn't seem like too much of a rant, but...

I'm starting to think I'm the only one who still thinks it's very important to be careful about who you meet online, most people are nice/cool, but among those there can still be the sicko who lures people to a RL meeting with less than noble intentions. I know we're all (allegedly) 18+, but I don't think there's an age for safety.

I was reminded, in the form of someone who just doesn't understand "I have no plans in meeting you in RL for any sort of relationship and I'm only here for friends" and still insists on meeting in RL for friendship and maybe more later, that there are people out there you just should stay away from and those safety rules do exist for a reason.

and No means No, it doesn't mean "maybe" or "later I'll change my mind", it means NO.

`A lot of it just boils down to taking the time to actually reading and understanding the profile. It's unfortunate that many don't fill it out to begin with. But then I just skip over those, rightfully figuring they just really are not interested.
