I dated my first girlfriend when I was a junior in high school. We dated for two straight years until I found out she was cheating on me. I talked to her and she confessed that she had been with seven other guys during our two years. I dropped her and have found no one since. I don't understand what happened, I did nothing wrong. I was faithful like mans best friend. It's been almost eight months now and I am looking for a girl to make my life whole again.

`The way for you to heal is to heal others in the same situation. Commiserating with people of the same S-- only leads to more anguish and becomes a spiral of despair. Find a way of leading a talk group of people that include the opposite sex, people that are just as scarred as you are. Try not to judge. Remember, you are there to learn just as they are. Listen to what they have to say and try not to over react. You will find out how lost they were when they committed their special crime or were victimized. When you realize that your anguish turns to compassion, you have crossed a major threshold. You may move on to the next person. This provides windfall behavior on your part: you are calmer in the interaction, so that you are no longer waiting for the shoe to drop; you can avoid the complications by knowing the tell tale signs of oncoming betrayal; and you can forgive more easily.
