My ideal: I despise gender roles. I am totally uninterested in women who want to be coddled, protected, or showered with material trinkets. I am looking for an equal, a companion in all things. What I am really looking for is a best friend, with a sexual relationship being a possible, but not necessary bonus feature. Which isn't to say I am uninterested in sex. Quite the contrary. But friendship is a necessary basis for any other relationship for me, and I can always use more good friends. As a serious history student, I tend to find popular social conventions and morality arbitrary and laughable. My major interests are history, martial arts, tantra, chi kung, meditation, sociology, psychology, linguistics and ballistics ,though, in keeping with Descartes' view of one all encompassing Science, all knowledge interests me. I play wargames, RPGs and strategy games, although I am enough of a perfectionist, historian and hoplophile that I find off-the-shelf games unpalatable. Only after extensively rewriting something am I ever happy with it. I currently play, and am writing a scenario and many personal rules for the PBEM game Lords of the Earth, and I play in L13. The only athletic activities I really enjoy are the martial arts. I practice Bujinkan Ninjutsu/Budo, and European Renaissance/Medieval swordsmanship. I don't watch television, and I am extremely picky about movies and novels. I usually sympathize with the villain, and despise the hypocritical and superficial protagonist. This is true with a good 95% of stories I watch or read. Besides, I tend to pick apart plot and character inconsistency, not to mention all the historical or scientific mistakes. Enjoying long conversations is a necessary prerequisite.
